The cycling industry has been through wild years. First came the mega boom during the pandemic, followed by an oversupply of models, heavy discounts, and endless special offers. But this phase is coming to an end. 2025 is the year where you can enter cycling—whether it’s mountain biking, gravel, or road—at the best prices and with the widest variety of choices.
The market is returning to normal. The massive overproduction of recent years is being cleared, discount battles are slowly fading, and the overwhelming variety of models will shrink. The industry will stabilize, but we won’t see price levels like today again anytime soon.
So if you’ve been thinking about it: now is the time to get your bike!
What to Consider Before You Buy
Before you head to your local shop or click “order,” keep a few basics in mind:
- Define your purpose: Do you want fun on the trails? Then an All-Mountain or Enduro MTB is perfect. Looking for an all-rounder? A gravel bike might be your best fit. Road bike? Go for it if you’re after speed and long distances on asphalt.
- Check your size: An “M” isn’t the same across all brands. Geometry differs, so always check the charts and test ride if possible.
- Feel matters: A bike should feel right. The best spec sheet is worthless if you’re not comfortable on it.
- Plan your budget: Solid MTBs start around €1,500, gravel and road bikes from about €1,000. High-quality setups shine from €3,000–5,000. Only in the luxury class (above €8,000) bargains are rare.
Just Get Started
Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment—it doesn’t exist. Right now, you have the best chance to grab a high-quality bike at a fair price. Whether it’s from your local dealer, an online store, or even the second-hand market: go out, test, compare—and start your adventure.
Because one thing is for sure: this won’t be your last bike.
