Mountain biking is more than just a sport – it’s rhythm, flow, and sometimes pure ecstasy. With our new House/Trance track “Grip Control”, we wanted to capture exactly that feeling: the moment when the trail doesn’t just run beneath your tires, but directly into your head.

The video – Big Betty in focus

In the video you see the ride from an unusual perspective: the camera mounted under the saddle, pointing backwards – the Schwalbe Big Betty in the frame, the trail behind it, dust, roots, and every curve. It’s almost like experiencing live how grip, control, and speed feel when you just let it flow.

Big Betty & Schwalbe – a tire with question marks

For many riders, the Big Betty is the very definition of stability and grip. But that’s exactly why we ask: how long will it remain in the spotlight of Schwalbe’s lineup? Within our community, discussions keep coming up about the long-term role of classics like the Big Betty or the Nobby Nic. We reached out to Schwalbe for a statement – so far without any concrete reply.

Maybe that’s the point: a tire like the Big Betty speaks for itself. It delivers confidence when the trail gets rough. And yet, riders want to know where the journey is headed. “Grip Control” is our artistic answer – a track that translates the energy, the grip, and the freedom of the trail into music.

I talk about differences in grip, my personal experience with the Big Betty, and why the Nobby Nic is so controversially discussed. You’ll also hear which questions I asked Schwalbe directly – and why their answers would be crucial for so many riders.
